Discovering Ottawa

Despite what some people may believe, Ottawa is a city full of fun! Instead of highlighting the major tourist attraction such as Parliament, I will highlight some of my favourite spots as a local. Starting in the heart of the city, we have Sparks Street, one of the city's most vibrant streets! Here, you will find many restaurants such as Rabbit Hole, a haunted walk, bicycle tours, and more! While visiting, make sure to drop by Le Moulin de Provence KD for some fantastic coffee! Moving onto the East end of Ottawa, I’ll highlight Princess Louise Falls in the center of Orleans. This waterfall is one of the most mesmerizing places in Ottawa! Princess Louise Falls is an easy hike and a wonderful place to take some Instagram pictures! You might even forget that you are in Ottawa.

If you are looking for outdoor activities in the West end of Ottawa, you may want to head over to Britannia Park! This Park has a clean beach with spots to barbeque and play volleyball! For dinner, make sure to head over to one of Ottawa's beautiful Patios. Some of my favourites include Andaz, a beautiful rooftop restaurant, Metropolitan Brasserie, which is down the road from Parliament Hill, and Whalesbone, off Elgin Street! If you're in the mood for desserts, you can also find many ice-cream stores throughout Ottawa, including Mantovani, Stella Luna and Merry Dairy. To end the night in Ottawa, watch the sunset at Bate Island, one of the clearest views you can get in Ottawa! You can also watch the sunset at the Ottawa Locks on the Rideau Canal if you're already downtown! The relaxing sound of the water and the vibrant colours are unforgettable! Although Ottawa may seem like a standard city, all its hidden gems genuinely make it one of a kind!
