☁️ How to Treat Jet Lag ☁️

You’ve finally arrived at your destination and are ready to get to action. But then… sleep hits you. Maybe for a day or a week. Yup, that’s jet lag for you!

This phenomenon occurs when your biological clock (the thing that wakes you up in the morning and makes you sleepy at night) gets disturbed due to traveling to a different time zone.

Here are some tips on how to overcome (or at least help a little) the sluggish feeling of jet lag:

✨ If you can, select a flight that allows you to arrive to your destination in the evening. Then try to sleep at around 10pm.

✨ If you can’t stay up until 10pm, try taking a nap in the early afternoon. But no longer then 2 hours, as sleeping to long can actually make you feel more sluggish the next day!

✨ Prepare yourself a couple days in advance by modifying your sleep schedule. Getting up and going to bed earlier if your destination is to the east, or later if it’s to the west.

✨ Avoid drinking alcohol or coffee a couple hours before going to sleep.

✨ Avoid heavy exercise before going to sleep (the boost of dopamine might make give you too much energy).

✨ Once you’ve arrived at your destination, try avoiding heavy meals.

✨ Try getting you and soaking in the sun as much as possible! Sunlight helps a lot to regulate the biological clock (making you feel awake at the right time). Staying indoors too much can have the opposite effect and leave you feeling even worst!

Wherever you might find yourself, I hope these tips above help you get the most ZZZ’s possible!
